Recycled Toilet Paper! Yes, I’m Totally on Board and Here is Why

Recycled Toilet Paper! Yes, I’m Totally on Board and Here is Why

This post is in partnership with Who Gives A Crap. All thoughts and opinions are my own and I only choose to partner with companies whose value I share.

In a family of 5 (2 pets, 2 adults and 1 tiny toddler queen), and we go through a lot of paper products. I never even realized how much more it would be after potty training Kai. If you have ever seen the memes of cat pawing at a roll of toilet paper, you know what I mean! This year, we have taken huge steps in our family to reduce, rethink and find more sustainable options. We started with non-toxic cleaning products and now it’s time to rethink one of the biggest consumables in our family – toilet paper.

When I discovered Who Gives A Crap, I was instantly drawn to their mission. Who Gives A Crap is a sustainable toilet paper company who helps builds toilets. Who Gives A Crap started in 2012 to not only provide a sustainable toilet paper option, delivered straight to your door but they wanted to make an even more lasting impact. They have an incredible 50% of profits donations model to help build toilets in developing countries. Growing up in China, I have seen my fair share of poverty and the impact that a lack of sanitation has on people. This amazing mission is so close to my heart. Knowing we are doing our little share to contribute to the cause, it makes taking care of our bum that much more rewarding.

Why it matters? Well, 2.3 billion people in the world don’t have access to a toilet! Let that sink in. 2.3 BILLION! That means more people in the world have mobile phones than toilets, one of the most basic and impactful change you can make in a human’s life. A World Health Organization study in 2012 calculated that for every $1 invested in sanitation, there was an economic return of $5.50 in lower health costs, more productivity and fewer premature deaths. The 50% of profits donated by Who Gives A Crap is making some serious impact!

To date, Who Gives A Crap has donated over $1.2 Million Aussie dollars to their charity partners: WaterAid, Sanergy, Lwala Community Alliance and Shining Hope For Communities. Read their ever-impressive donation impact report here!

Beside feeling SO FREAKING AMAZING about the waves we are making, the actual product is equally as amazing. It’s rare that you get to feel great and enjoy your good deed too. Who Gives A Crap makes recycled toilet paper actually FUN! When the giant box of 48 toilet paper rolls showed up at my door, I felt instantly relieved that I did not have to carry the box to my house. If you have ever shopped at bulk discount stores, you know the feeling of schlepping 24 roll packs through the crowded store, with a toddler in tow.

The entire unboxing experience was delightful! The box was thoughtfully packaged, minimally wasteful and uses only 1 piece of tape for plastic.

The wrappers made Who Gives A Crap’s recycled toilet paper feel like a gift to our behind. Can you tell they were Kai’s favorite part of this whole process? She seriously thought these rolls of recycled toilet paper were a fun stacking game. Kevin and I enjoyed reading the witty detail on each roll even more. The entire unboxing experience felt like an uplifting game!

Once we got into the juicy goodness on the inside. I was pleasantly surprised by the softness and touch of Who Gives A Crap. When I think of recycled toilet paper, I didn’t imagine it would feel great too! The color was an off white which made more sense than bleached, highly process paper.

I was able to stock our entire guest room cabinet with awesome recycled toilet paper from Who Gives A Crap. Seeing all the colorful wrappers lining my selves made me feel at peace. Just the thought of not running out of toilet paper again for a while feels amazing!

The next thing I want to try is their bamboo premium toilet paper with the softest feel ever. It’s made with forest friendly 100% bamboo and with no inks, dyes or fragrances. I have it in my cart right now along with their Forrest Friendly Paper Towel (another thing we go through by the boatloads in our house). Give them a shot and let me know what you think! I really believe if we all intentionally make better choices for the environment and our counter parts, we can make some serious changes for the better!
