May 2 3 Backyard Staycation Ideas with Rainbow Summer Splash Party

Can you believe how close summer is ? It is starting to warm up and it’s still up in the air on what will happen in the next few months. It feels like we’ve been sheltering in place for what seems like years. You have probably cleaned and organized all you could during this time. As much as we want to go on vacation, we can make the most of it with a staycation! Staycations have taken on a whole new meaning during this time. You can still make all those wonderful memories with the kiddos without leaving your backyard! One way to have a great staycation during this time is to turn your own backyard into a summer oasis! Here are 3 fun ideas to try that will have both adults and kiddos smiling ear to ear! I’ve linked some of our favorite ideas form Pottery Barn Kids. It’s my favorite place to find beach/backyard toys that are fun for Kai and still so easy on the eye. They are dedicated to providing the safest furniture with clean materials that LAST. I feel like these pieces will really cary the kiddos through many ages.

Dine Outside:

If you’re in need for a change of scenery, set a table outside and enjoy some meals and snacks outdoors! Fresh air always does everyone some good after being cooped up in the house all day. We set out Kai’s play table on top of our favorite rainbow rug which was the perfect size for our family! We used these chairs that we had and decorated it these adorable rainbow mobiles! To tie in the theme of rainbows and sunshine, I found these outdoor friendly reusable plate, bowl, and cup set! This whole colorful collection from Pottery Barn Kids & Flourshop collaboration is perfectly bright and oh-so durable. Jackie Trejo Floral Design took inspo from the casual backyard feel and showed us how to make a floral runner. Simply grab some bud vases or glass jars and filled them up with flowers with many varieties and height. This gave the table a colorful floral runner and is so easy to pull off! And what’s a meal without dessert? These fun mini rainbow treats was the icing on the cake for our outdoor dining experience. Wink by Erica layered mini cake cutouts between colorful buttercream to match the plates. Kai thought this was so fun and YUM!

No pool? No problem! There are so many fun sprinklers and inflatable pools that you can grab to create your own water park! Grab your swimsuits and swim trunks and splash around with this rainbow sprinkler. Of course we had to get this unicorn sprinkler as well! It never gets old running through the sprinklers! PBK has so many fun sprinkler toys! The Dino sprinkler and Unicorn Arch are soooo adorable too! Make sure to meet the kiddos with colorful beach towels that are colorful and fun in loads of prints.

3. Pretend Play:

It is easy to use our imagination to help us transport us to somewhere else using the playhouse in our own backyard. Kai loves to pretend to play house in it where she’s the mom and will cook up a meal inside her house. Another favorite game that Kai enjoys is pretending to have a flower shop. I love that my love for plants and flowers have been passed down to her! Watching her use her imagination in the playhouse always makes my heart happy! Since we’re keeping with the theme of our backyard oasis, we took out our mini Adirondack chairs to set up a cute little beach shop. Kai sold us some of the cutest beach balls at her beach shop. She even had towels, robes, and sunglasses on deck for us to enjoy our backyard bash.
